On the occasion of the 59th Independence Day of the Republic of Maldives, Chinese President H.E. Xi Jinping sent congratulatory message to Maldivian President H.E. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, wishing the Republic of Maldives enjoy prosperity and its people happiness and well-being.

President Xi Jinping pointed out that China-Maldives friendly exchanges date back to ancient times. Since the diplomatic relations were established, the two countries have always kept the spirit of good neighborliness, treated each other as equals, supported each other and sought cooperation and development, which has set a good example of countries of different sizes enjoying friendly exchanges, mutual benefits and win-win cooperation.

President Xi Jinping stressed that he attaches great importance to the development of China-Maldives relations and is ready to work with President Solih to carry forward traditional friendship, enhance political trust, deepen practical cooperation and maintain close people-to-people exchanges, so as to promote the steady development of the future-oriented all-round friendly and cooperative partnership between China and the Maldives.
