On August 4th, the Spokesperson of the Maldivian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Maldivian Government’s position on Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi’s visit to China’s Taiwan region in response to inquiry as followings:

The Maldives remains firmly committed to the One-China Policy, as the foundation of its diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China, and will continue to reaffirm this position in the international sphere. The Maldives and China has always enjoyed a close bilateral relationship, based on mutual respect and understanding.
