On May 7, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives H.E. Mr. Kong Xianhua held a discussion with the engineering team of the maintenance project of the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge. Mr. Zhang Xu, Counselor of Chinese Embassy attended.

Ambassador Kong listened to the report of the maintenance project of the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge. The inspection team conducted a comprehensive conclusion that the current condition of the bridge is good.

Ambassador Kong said that the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge, as a symbol of friendship between the two countries, is an important gift from the Chinese government to the Maldivian people. The bridge has been in good condition for seven years in the local high temperature, high humidity and high corrosion environment, which fully proves that the Chinese standard quality is excellent. The subsequent maintenance of the bridge is of vital importance. The engineering team is also a "civilian ambassador" and should show professionalism and dedication in their work. It is hoped that the skills training of local personnel will be further strengthened in the future to help the Maldivian side to carry out independent maintenance work on the bridge and jointly protect this friendship achievement.
