On December 4, Ambassador Kong Xianhua and Maldivian Minister of Health Ibrahim attended the handover ceremony of laboratory equipment for the hospital donated to the Maldives and signed the handover certificate. Maldivian Minister of State for Health Khadeeja and Counselor Zhang Xu of the Chinese Embassy also attended the ceremony.

Ambassador Kong stated that healthcare is a matter of vital importance to people's livelihoods, and the governments of China and the Maldives attach great importance to this field. This aid project is an important achievement in implementing the significant consensus reached by the two heads of state. This batch of equipment will greatly enhance the medical testing capabilities of hospitals in the Maldives, better serve the health of the local people, and demonstrate the determination of China and the Maldives to jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Ibrahim thanked China for its assistance and said the equipment would help the Maldivian government improve the accessibility, availability and quality of healthcare services for the Maldivian people. He expressed his willingness to work with China to further strengthen cooperation in the health sector and enhance the well-being of the Maldivian people.
