On July 21, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives H.E. Kong Xianhua gave an exclusive interview to the Maldivian mainstream media outlet SSTV, engaging in in-depth discussions on China-Maldives relations, people-to-people exchanges, global governance, and other topics.

Ambassador Kong noted that, during the more than one year since his arrival in the Maldives, he has visited eight atolls and made friends with over a thousand local people. These experiences have given him a more comprehensive understanding of the Maldives' history, culture, society, and development needs, while further strengthening his confidence in advancing China-Maldives friendship and cooperation. He emphasized that expanding exchanges and cooperation in education, tourism, media, youth, and other fields, and fostering mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples—especially the younger generation—is fundamental to ensuring that China-Maldives friendship is passed down from generation to generation.

Ambassador Kong stressed that China always upholds equality among countries regardless of size, mutual respect, and win-win cooperation. China advocates and practices true multilateralism and is committed to building a community with a shared future for mankind. In the face of global challenges, all countries should adopt a people-centered approach, strengthen solidarity and cooperation, and work together to safeguard the common interests of all humanity. China stands ready to further deepen practical cooperation and people-to-people exchanges with the Maldives across various fields, bringing greater benefits to the two peoples.
