On September 9, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives H.E. Kong Xianhua met with representatives of the Student Union of the Maldives National University and exchanged views in depth on China-Maldives relations, youth development, and other topics.

Ambassador Kong listened attentively to the views and suggestions of the youth representatives. He gave a comprehensive overview of the progress in China-Maldives cooperation, the guiding principles of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, achievements in Chinese modernization, and the history of the development of the Communist Party of China. Ambassador Kong noted that China’s development is creating more opportunities for the youth of both countries. Young people are the future of a country. He expressed hope that Maldivian youth will think proactively, take on responsibilities, and contribute to China-Maldives cooperation. The Embassy stands ready to listen to the voices of young people, support their growth, and encourage them to contribute to national development.

The Maldivian youth representatives thanked the Embassy for providing valuable opportunities for exchanges in China. They said that China’s experience and achievements in areas such as national governance, technological innovation, and local development had been deeply inspiring. They expressed appreciation for China’s longstanding support for the development of the Maldives in such areas as infrastructure, healthcare, and education. They hoped to gain a deeper understanding of China and learn from China’s experience in national governance, so as to contribute to further deepening the friendship between China and the Maldives.
