(Please refer to Attachment 1 for eligibility requirements and the list of required documents, and Attachment 2 for instructions on using the application system.)
II. Applicants should contact the admissions departments of their preferred Chinese universities to obtain an admission letter or a document indicating the intention to admit them. Such documents include, but are not limited to, pre-admission letters and acceptance certificates from prospective supervisors. When submitting the scholarship application online, applicants must provide at least one admission letter or document indicating the intention to admit them, issued by one of their preferred universities.
III. Applicants applying for undergraduate degree programmes in China must take the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) before submitting their applications and provide a valid CSCA score report at the time of application. (A sample CSCA score report is provided in Attachment 3.) The required CSCA subjects vary depending on the intended field of study. Applicants should consult their preferred universities in advance for details.
Applicants planning to begin their undergraduate studies in September 2027 must register for a CSCA test scheduled for November or December 2026, or January 2027. For detailed information about the CSCA and registration, please visit www.csca.cn.
IV. Applicants pursuing master's or doctoral degrees in China with Chinese as the language of instruction must have Chinese proficiency equivalent to Level 4 of the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK-4). Applicants applying for general scholar or senior scholar programmes must have Chinese proficiency equivalent to HSK Level 3 (HSK-3).
Applicants should check the Chinese language requirements for their intended programmes at their preferred universities and provide the relevant language proficiency certificates as required. Applicants studying Chinese as a language under the general scholar programme are exempt from the above Chinese language proficiency requirements.
