On September 13, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives H.E. Kong Xianhua attended a meeting with members of the Maldivian delegation that recently visited Xinjiang, and engaged in exchanges with representatives from local media, student union, the Human Rights Commission and other sectors.

The participants said that what they saw and experienced firsthand during the visit helped dispel misconceptions and inaccurate narratives about Xinjiang in some Western media and gave them a deeper understanding of how China’s ethnic policies protect cultural diversity and promote inclusiveness. During the visit, the delegation was deeply impressed by Xinjiang’s achievements in ecological conservation and urban development, and gained a firsthand sense of the social stability, prosperity and development in the region, as well as the warmth and hospitality of its people. They noted that Xinjiang’s development approaches and governance experience offered valuable insights for the Maldives in promoting social cohesion and pursuing common development.

Ambassador Kong, drawing on the more than 100-year history of the Communist Party of China and its experience in leading the Chinese people in achieving development, elaborated on the factors behind China’s development achievements and introduced the distinctive features of Chinese modernization. He expressed hope that the participants would actively share what they had seen and experienced, contributing to greater mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of China and Maldives.
