On 9th July, Sinohydro Group Ltd. and Maldives Airport Company Limited jointly held a signing ceremony of Runway Repairing and Asphalt Resurfacing of Ibrahim Nasir International Airport. Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives H.E. Mr. Wang Fukang, Minister of Tourism Mr. Ahmed Adeeb, Project Manager of Sinohydro Group Ltd. Mr. Hei Shaoyu and Managing Director of MACL Mr.Adil Moosa attended the event. Ambassador Wang and Minister Adeeb witnessed the signing of agreement between the two companies and offered their congratulations to both representatives.

    When interviewed by local media, Ambassador Wang said that this event stands as a concrete testament of the advancement of bilateral cooperation. With the joint efforts made by both governments, bilateral relations progress forward continuously based on Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence. The furthering and deepening economic cooperation is embodied by Laamu Atoll Road Development Project, Hulhumale Housing Project, China-Maldives Friendship Project and Male International Airport Upgrade and Expansion project. Besides, to faciliate the development of the Maldives, China welcomes and supports the Maldives to host the 2nd Maldives Investment Forum in Beijing. It is our common faith that the progress of bilateral economic and trade cooperation will benefit our two peoples more and more.
    Minister Adeeb stated that China is the real partner and friend of the Maldives. Being the biggest source country of tourists, China has always being offering aid to the Maldives generously, which is significant for its development. The nature of bilateral cooperation is win-win. The Maldivian side supports the Asian Infrastructure Bank (AIIB) initiated by China and would like to be the firt batch of signatories of the Articles of Agreement. The Maldives actively co-builds the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road with China and is willing to join hands with China to seek commmon development.
