On the occasion of the 57th Independence Day of the Republic of Maldives, Chinese President Xi Jinping sends a message of congratulations to Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, extending sincere congratulations to the Government and people of Maldives and wishing Maldives enjoy prosperity and its people happiness and well-being. 

In the message, President Xi speaks highly of the China-Maldives relations, emphasizing that China and Maldives have a long history of friendship and since the establishment of diplomatic relations 50 years ago, the two countries have enjoyed mutual respect, mutual trust and mutual support, setting an example of equality, amicability and mutually-beneficial cooperation between large and small countries. President Xi stresses that he attaches great importance to China-Maldives relations and would like to work with President Solih to carry forward traditional friendship, strengthen political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, enhance people-to-people exchanges, and promote the steady development of future-oriented comprehensive and friendly partnership of cooperation between the two countries so as to bring benefits to the two countries and two peoples.

President Xi also sincerely wishes the Republic of Maldives enjoy prosperity and its people happiness and well-being.
