Chinese Ambassador Wang Lixin Donated PCR Machine and Test Kits to Tree Top Hospital

On 9th January, 2023, Chinese Ambassador Wang Lixin donated PCR machine and test kits to Tree Top Hospital (TTH) on behalf of the Chinese government. Mr. Adil Moosa, Chief Operating Officer and other senior management of TTH attended the donating ceremony. 

Ambassador Wang said in her remarks that China and Maldives are friendly neighbors. The mutually-beneficial cooperation between the two countries in various fields have made remarkable achievements, and health care is also included. The Chinese side hopes the donation will strengthen the capability of the Maldivian side in fighting against Covid-19 pandemic. She stressed that China’s new policy on downgrading the Covid-19 management and provisional measures on cross-border travel have taken effect, which will facilitate the people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. The donations will serve as a timely empowerment to TTH in providing fast PCR test for the Chinese tourists who will come to the Maldives in the near future. It is hoped that more opportunities could be explored to further enhance the bilateral health cooperation.   

Adil Moosa expressed gratitude for the donation and the continuous support provided by the Chinese government to the Maldives. He stressed that China is a trustworthy cooperative partner to Maldives and the valuable assistance from the Chinese government during the pandemic further consolidated the friendship between the two countries. He further expressed the readiness to strengthen the cooperation with the Chinese side so as to improve the hospital’s capacity building and bring more benefits to the local people.
