China-Maldives Friendship Bridge, as a project under China Aid program, exemplifies the close cooperation between the two nations. Its successful completion in less than 3 years epitomizes China-Maldives mutual trust and close cooperation. 

It has achieved lots of key technical breakthroughs in design and construction, has led the world’s new trend in bridge construction industry, and is a pioneering example in the construction of super-large bridges under deep exposed ocean environment with a coral reef geology. 

The bridge, while bridging local communities, also bridges the sentiments and aspirations of the two peoples, the two nations. 

As a major milestone in the historic relations between China and the Maldives, it has witnessed more than 100 million travels and made great contributions to the economic and social development of the Maldives as well.
